Obito did the only thing He could do to stay alive,With His body at deaths door due to Kakashi wounding Him and Madara sucking the life out of Him He transferred His essence His mind and soul to the Juubi. But this a temporary situation, Now He must fight Naruto on one side and Madara on the other to keep the Juubi and its power.

Tobito is a badass & he will always be a badass. I always knew he was going to play a big part in the manga, I just wish I knew about the base earlier to tell everyone my theories

It's probably because people were expecting him to be OP and then left us severely disappointed after the battle with Kakashi

Due to him becoming the jinchuriki of the juubi, there's no doubt he's OP which gives him a chance to redeem himself.
