Kabuto was sitting in a room by himself. The room resembled a make-shift laboratory.
Kabuto: (That voice... It couldn't be...)
???: Oh but it is.
Kabuto: How can you be here..
???: I'm not here. When Itachi sealed me off, I was trapped in a world made of genjutsu. However, I have overcome that by entering the dimension within my mind. Everyday, I can change it to whatever I want. By being trapped in that dimension forever, I have, in a sense, gained immortality.
An illusion of Orochimaru appeared behind Kabuto, like the Pharoah would in Yu-gi-oh.
Oro: You think Edo Tensei was an escape for immortality. You don't think I thought of that? But there's something you didn't account for.
Kabuto: What?
Oro: There's a major flaw: While it does have a regeneration factor, it doesn't last forever. Eventually, the base body sacrificed to bring back the dead will begin to rot. Once that happens, that "failsafe" begins to slow down and eventually stop forever. You're entire body but a finger could disenegrate and you won't repair. You'll be forced to live in eternity as a finger unless you're sealed.
Kabuto: And how do you overcome this?
Oro: There is no way.
Kabuto: Fine. I think there's a few test subjects left in here. I'm sure one of them will be suitable.
Oro chuckled, then disappeared.
Over in another part of the hideout, Sasuke was in a large room. In the blink of an eye, he vanished and reappeared behind a column of statues. A split second later, the pillars collapsed.
Sasuke: Hmph. Being down here is so boring.
Kabuto entered the room.
Kabuto: Sasuke...I have...an assignment I have to do. Do not go above or leave the hideout. Get me?
Sasuke: Fine. I guess I can toy with the freaks here a bit.
Kabuto: Don't go to the North Cells. I have plans for a few of the prisoners there.
Sasuke: Whatever.
Kabuto: I'm warning you Sasuke. The only reason I keep you around is to further my goals. Once I have the "tool" I need, you'll be superfluous to me.
Sasuke: A "tool" huh?
Kabuto: I'm very serious, Sasuke.
Sasuke: Fine, relax. Don't have a stroke about it.
Kabuto turned around, took a quick glance back at Sasuke, then left.
Sasuke put his sword back when he suddenly cringed.
Sasuke: (My head hurts...)
???: You think I'm gone, Sasuke?
Sasuke: That voice...
???: That's right.
Sasuke: That's impossible. I killed you two years ago.
???: You think so do you? No, when you did what you thought was killing me, you actually infused me to your Susano'o. After so many years, I've managed to separate myself from your Susano'o, but I found myself locked away in your subconscious. Now, I'm trying to escape back into reality.
Sasuke: And you expect me to just sit back and let it happen?
???: No. But my will is stronger than yours. I will escape soon.
Kabuto was walking through the tunnels. He made a turn and walked past a sign that read "North Cells". He walked up to a door that had paper tags all over it. He wove a handseal and the tags vanished. He then opened the door and was on a balcony. He looked down and saw many cells. He walked up to a keyboard-like pad and pressed a few buttons. Some of the cell doors opened and a few men came out.
Kabuto: You ten. You're the strongest men in this hideout. One of you will be granted freedom. Nine of you....will die. The last man standing leaves this place.
The men turned to each other. They all wore the same uniforms as Kimmimaro.
Kabuto: You may begin.
With that, he left the room and re-sealed the door.
Outside in the woods, a slab of rock rose out of the ground. A hole-like doorway appeared an Kabuto existed the rock.
Kabuto: (The woods of the Nara...)
As he exited, the slab fell apart.
Kabuto: (I'm in Konoha territory... I have to be cautious...)
Kabuto made a few seals and morphed into a snake. He then slithered across the woods until he came into a clearing. He then burrowed into the ground. A few minutes later, the ground erupted as a large snake came out. The snake then vanished in a poof of smoke. In the hideout, Kabuto stood in front a man who was strung up on a wall, his face hidden by shadows.
Kabuto: I want to use you as a host, but you've got too many flaws. For now, I'll have to use whoever survived my little battle royal. In a few hours, you'll be brought back. Till then, just hang tight.
Over near the town where Naruto was resting, a man was standing in a laboratory. Karu and the rest entered.
Karu: We've-
Man: Failed. I know.
Karu: Lord Asura, please forgive us!
Asura: Don't worry. You're time has come anyway.
Karu: ?!!
Suddenly, a trapdoor opened under them and they fell into a deep hole. A machine near Asura glowed.
Asura: From the day I discovered that Pein body in the Hidden Leaf, I knew that technology was the salvation for mankind. Now, finally, I am ready to inhereit ALL the powers of that body!
Asura typed a few things on a keyboard and stepped into the machine. A few minutes later, he stepped out. He was taller and much more muscular.
Asura: Yes! I have done it! Now, to destroy that town and the people who got in my way!
Kabuto: (That voice... It couldn't be...)
