Ahoy mateys. I'm Mgumbo.
Lately I've been occupying my time by watching anime; I enjoy it, and I'd like to watch more.
The thing is, I'm not that knowledgeable with these things and I need some help finding a/some new anime to watch!
Here's a list of the things I've watched so far (it's not really that long...):
Naruto (unfinished)
One Piece (unfinished)
Attack on Titan (unfinished)
Death Note
Madoka Magica
Sword Art Online
Pokemon (the original series, more or less...)
To help specify up a bit, I'll write a bit about what I liked from some of these (in no particular order).
I'm a huge fan of Death Note; probably my favorite anime of all time. It was complex, compelling, brilliant, and thrilling. It was really the first anime I saw that wasn't extremely long (Naruto, One Piece, etc.) and it set some crazy standards. I absolutely loved it.
Madoka Magica, despite being a magical girl series, actually had an extremely dark undertone and also forced the viewer to think of how they would react in a similar situation. It made you think, "Is it really worth it?", and that put it as a great one on my list.
Sword Art Online was great too. Even though it transformed from an action/fantasy into essentially a romance rather quickly, I still found myself wanting to watch more. Similar to Madoka, it made the user question what was really worth fighting for.
I like Attack on Titan because it's a dark series. In addition to being riddled with plenty of action sequences and hefty undertones, it all mixes well into a great anime stew. A delicious one.
So, in the end, I guess I can summarize it all (for the most part) with, I like anime that has a dark tone, a (somewhat) meaningful message, and a compelling storyline. I'd rather avoid anything that's got a super high episode count, but if it's suggested, I'll certainly keep it in mind.
Can anyone help me out here? I apologize for the long thread...if my standards are too high, let me know. I try to be open-minded! And, of course, I appreciate the help in advance.
Thanks!
