Hunter x Hunter.Which one?

I know that the new Hunter x Hunter is supposed to have better animation than the old one but does the story is also different?
Should i watch first the old Hunter x Hunter or only the new?

2011 is better and catchup with the manga more. The 1999 series doesn't have chimera ant arc.

Just watch the 2011 version, no need to watch the previous one. Both follow the same manga however the 2011 is further ahead in the manga (the old one stopped) and like you said has better animation.
