Well, Earth is the host ,we're the virus. The host either purges the virus or the virus kills the host.
We may be a virus, but we could also be a blessing. Because, as they say, an error is not a mistake until you choose not to correct it.

We can still redirect this. We're the ones causing this, directly or indirectly, it doesn't matter. One man can't do much, but if a million people go out and do something things will change. Think of all the previous events and turnarounds. Women got their rights, all races are treated equal, none of those things could be done if it wasn't for unity.

Unity is where our strength lies. Don't mistake this for criticism, I'm not reffering solely to you, but to the collective. I'm not saying we should go out and protest by tying ourselves to trees or burst into the offices threatening. Countless organizations are made for specific purposes, for specific rights. Mother nature is our right. The right to live.

Donate a penny or sign a petition. Any contribution counts. In short, if you can do something, don't hesitate. That's a bit of my perspective on this matter. u.u

The change starts with ourselves ofcourse.
Do you know what "The Butterfly Effect is?
The Butterfly Effect is a concept that small causes can have large effects.

"Something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.”

I do. Don't buy it literally, but it's a great metaphor of how small things cause great ones.

That and butterflies, who doesn't like butterflies.

Oh really? And here I thought that butterflies were the culprits responsible for all the massive hurricanes in recorded human history. :T_T:

More species are going extinct today?

First... let's answer a couple questions...

How is it that, in a world where we are still discovering new species of insects every year.... that we have any idea how many species exist, today - let alone a million years ago? Further - how many species are actually known to have gone extinct? Most of these 'extinctions' are virtual species that are hypothesized to both have existed and gone extinct.

Further... what is a species? Is a Zebra a species... or ...? There's some debate about what, exactly, a species is. This has, in part, caused the list of species to explode far beyond what classic taxonomy would imply the number of species are.

Which brings us to another point. Most of our fossil record of species are aquatic organisms. The fossil record of insects (where most of the species that exist today are supposed to exist and be going extinct) is much, much smaller - as are the fossil records of land animals.

While there is some point to the argument that humans have been engineering the environment to a degree - the redwood forests were cultivated by natives who used them and alternating forests for controlling game, this is a far cry from suggesting we are in any kind of new epoch. Limestone is the result of sea creatures. Many forms of sandstone are almost literally comprised of the shells of marine life. Forests and underbrush sprout where birds roost.
