So it occurred to me recently that the hyuuga clan's family branch system is flawed based on the story. Since its mentioned in part 1, I don't think Kishi planned to have the hyuugas being one of the ancient clans in NV.

For starters, Hiashi's and hixadhis houses are split into the two branches; despite them being twin brothers, the side branch family serves the main one. Apparently Neji said this has been going on for a while, so how come the branches are split within the same household? It would be understandable if Neji was Hinatas 3rd cousin or something along the lines, but Apparently the younger brother gets the shit end. So the confusion lies in the question that how many main and branch families are there? Unless the hyuuga clan is this small family, which is impossible as during the attack on konoha arc (orochimaru/sound in leaf) arc in part one, as well as the war arc, showed several hyuugas, in fact, the wiki page has at least 8-10 named hyuugas that appeared in more than one panel. Also dating back to generations and ancestors, if they have been doing this with each set of kids, and those kids do that with their kids, etc, we would have hundreds of branches, it just makes zero sense.

I mean we all know kishi isn't the most intellectual person (as he said it), and obviously not the most practical/socially
Smart person (the way he writes female characters), but he literally gave this one no thought.

You got a little twisted.
Neji automatically got the seal, as he wasn't part of the main branch, even tho he was Hisashi's first kid.

The real question is why didn't either Hinata or Hanabi get the seal.

Exactly, so he was the eldest child, how come his grandfather who I assume was part of the main branch, split his kids into two branches, and apparently this wasn't a new thing as it happened before, so how many branches are there counting all the past generations.

He did plan on Hyuga being one of the ancient clans, it was already stated Byakugan and Sharingan shared the same origins

There aren't that many main branch members because older sibling always had the stronger power according to the clan, in Neji's case it was different because his father and Hinata's were twins and therefore had the same DNA. Neji proved the flaw in their system when he was the one that inherited the superior talent. I don't think they will continue the practice now that it's a new era.

Still doesn't make sense; therefore it's an inconsistency

Hinata and Hanabi are part of the main house hold. Don't think anyone in the main house hold gets that curse seal. Just the side branch.

Hiashi and Hizashi were twins, both childs of the main branch, yet Hizashi got the curse seal.
Only because Hiashi was born first.

So why doesn't hanabi get the curse seal? It seems like there are tons of side branches throughout the course of centuries if that's the case
