If a genetic trait is recessive, a person needs to inherit two copies of the gene for the trait to be expressed. Thus, both parents have to be carriers of a recessive trait in order for a child to express that trait.
Rofl this statement from Wiki is partially wrong. Both parents don't have to be carriers of a reccessive trait in order for their child to express the phenotype of the genotype rr (which we assume to be a pair of recessive allele for the trait Red Hair). One parent can have a homozygous pairing of the recessive allele and the other can be a carrier of the allele and their child can still have red hair. They both don't have to be carriers.

It's been said that "bright" red hair is an Uzumaki trait. Gaara's hair is dark red/auburn, Tayuya's hair is pink-ish etc. But yeah, I agree with people above - just because it's typical doesn't mean all red heads are Uzumaki.

Just because all my family have blue eyes, doesn't mean anyone else with blue eyes is related to me, same for the uzumaki red hair, It's not exclusively their gene

This thread really shows how many kids there are on Naruto base. Just cause all Uzumaki's have red hair doesn't mean there the only group of people in the series with red hair

It's just like in real life. If everybody in your family are born having red hair and freckles that doesn't mean every person you meet in life with red hair and freckles are related to you
