and how science create the world ?
science didnt create the world it studies the world

well as a physicist i stick to my opinion that the image of god was just created because people had the need for it to understand the world and their purpose, i have heard many far better theories than the god theory

Well it doesn't exist according to me so it doesn't really change anything.
By it I assume you mean God/Religion?

Very well said but this is not the issue of the thread.

How would you react if you got confirmation that it wasn't true?

You may not believe in any God(neither do I) but I'm sure you'd react if you found out.....PARTAY?

Well, that would suck. No afterlife seems kinda scary....
Yeah I know. But just because it's preferable to have something after death doesn't make it so.
Everyone is aloud to believe whatever makes them feel happy or whatever.

I just like knowing what people would think and do think.

Some need religion to ease their minds, some believe it blindly and others choose to ignore it. Up to each person to choose.

I don't believe in anything. When I was a kid,I was told about God living in the sky...then I went on a plane and I couldn't find him.
Then I was told he lived past the clouds...I then learnt about space travel.
Then I was told that he was metaphysical and that made me think people were just covering their butts.

I have no reason to believe other than being told to have Faith.
I have been told/taught to fear Hell or to look forward to a beautiful afterlife If I believe in God.-This made me think 2 things. 1st,the Hell thing is terrorism. Using fear to get a result. The 2nd was that If I only believe in something to ensure my access to 'Heaven' then I'm not doing it out of kindness, but rather out of wanting to save my own butt.
Lastly I simply use my own logic and make up my own mind. I expect nothing from anyone else and don't want to tell anyone to believe or not. But I expect the same in return.

To quote: "Science adjusts it's views based on what's observed. Faith is the denial of observation,so that beliefs can be preserved."

I like to observe, calculate and come up with my own theories. I'd like to think everyone else can do the same. :)

Wow that can be easily answered
It's not about debating who's right or wrong.

This is a simple question of what people would do if it became apparent that no God existed. I am not saying anyone is right or wrong but you are all entitled to your views.
Be sure to respect other peoples views too though. We are a community of people from all over the world and obviously have different opinions.
If this becomes an argument or flame war. I will close the thread.

Be nice guys n gals...:pwease:

The probability that our universe is derived from chance is comparable to that of an archer successfully planted his arrow in the middle of a square target of 1 cm square and located at the other end of the universe.

I didn't say you intended to provoke people. I'm just saying you're unconciously setting oil to the fire. At least if you did it on purpose it wouldn't have made you look like such a clueless idiot. Because no matter what the fuck you're trying to achieve, Including words like 'God' and 'Religion' in a thread would turn it into a fact propaganda. And I had to tell you 4 or 5 times for you to get the message, and I don't know why I'm still trying. No matter what your views on Religion are, they will piss someone off and they would fight it. And you telling people to be civil doesn't mean shit. Because they will still do what they want. Hope you will develop some wits in the near future.
Ah, another person who believes that discussing is bad. If you don't like the discussion, you can very well leave. Now, I'd like to make something clear: Discussing and/or debating is not bad, insulting and degrading however, is.
There is no fire involved with religious threads. In every thread, there are those who believe that they hold the ultimate truth and that the rest of us are just ignorant bugs. These people don't come to debate, they come to argue. The only 'fuel' on the 'fire' is when you reply to thse people. Don't reply, it's that simple. I promise you, and I speak from experience, it's much easier to do on the internet than in real-life. We who want to debate should be allowed to debate and discuss any topic, religion included, for it is definitely worth debating. Many people here on NB say that nothing can influence other users' beliefs, I think them to be wrong, you just have to be patient and refrain from getting personal. This is not about who's right, for we can never truly know that, it's a matter of exchanging experiences, beliefs and, in a few cases, 'knowledge'. People are convinced by books and preachers, so why not writing from their peers?
Most of us know that there isn't much fact involved with the attempts to prove or disprove God, so there's no fact-propaganda other than the few people whom believe themselves to hold the ultimate truth. Again, just ignore them. Or even better; if they break the rules, report them and let a Mod handle them.
Yes, every thread on religion will piss someone off, because we always end up getting way too personal. But even if we manage to stay completely neutral, some still take offense to their religion being discussed or not believed in. But please, do not be mistaken, we are allowed to discuss this subject. If you take offense to a topic, don't discuss it.
Before you post, everyone, take a couple of deep breaths and check what you've written, because even if you do manage to completely 'pwn' someone in a discussion, it's no cause for insults or degrading, such actions will only make the receiver go into what I call 'defense-mode'.
Be open and be polite, people. Please watch your language! ^_^

is it better to believe that you need to be perfect in this life so you wont go to hell?

The probability that our universe is derived from chance is comparable to that of an archer successfully planted his arrow in the middle of a square target of 1 cm square and located at the other end of the universe.
well depends what you mean by chance, just random stuff going on? than yes, but if by that you mean everything that is reacting by their physical properties than no

the thought of one single deity controling everything to me seems more far fetched than reality governed by the ''laws of physics'' = chance

@bloodfeatheredguy for someone who hates religious threads and complains about the flaming it leads too you sure flame a lot on religious threads

I couldn´t have said it better myself.
I used to see people getting flamed on threads but having people say that the thread will start a flame-war or ask why you want to start a flame-war is what really have annoyed me these days, if a thread become a flame-thread then so be it but a thread in which there is nothing wrong with and people say you are starting a flame-war, those people should be flamed, reported and banned, just saying.

Fully agree. I think that all things considered, this is one of the tamest religion-related threads yet.
