How would Team Gai have done vs Pain and the Immortals?

They didn't get to fight the Immortal team nor Pain. Is it because they'd put up too good of a fight when the show is trying to make the opponent look as strong and dominating as possible before they fight Naruto? I think both the Immortal team and Pain would have sweat a lot if they encountered Team Gai. Team Gai was built as the strongest team outside of Team 7 and Team Sand in the chuunin exam. Gai solo'd Kisame, and Lee and Neji took Gaara and Naruto to the edge respectively in Part One. I feel they were purposely getting left out of these arcs in the beginning because they'd make for too much of a challenge for the Akatsuki guys, when the Akatsuki guys are supposed to be dominating.

They would have maybe summoned a couple fodders. Tenten would have died lee and neji would then rampage killing all/most of the summons.

Against Pain, they would end up in the grave.
Against the Immortal bro's, they would have a chance in my opinion.

They would have looked good late beginning and early middle of the fight, but then would have been owned. Still would've been kinda cool to see them fight though

They would have won, the reason kishi always removes team gai is becuase it would be unrealistic if they didn't win when gai can go gates lee can go gates and neji is well a boss.

So instead they are always on "missions" at the time something is happening

gai,lee and neji are enough to defeat pain

Gai and Lee are my dudes but come on let's be real, unless they got a Goku push they would've lost if not for (plot no jusu) alone.

I think they could have beaten the Immortals with hard difficulty and they would have made Pain work really really really hard, making Naruto's win not look as impressive.

ofc, why else would kishi leave them out. They were the only team out of the village because Guy in gates alone would be tough for pain. Adding Lee and neji is overkill.

Overestimating gates for sure on this thread. We don't know just how man daytime tigers gai can do and I don't think one could finish all six paths of pain and lee would probably die from trying to unlock seventh gate. Naruto did punch a hole in kisame before gai and him fought so Id hardly call that soloing kisame. Neji and rock lee die in 5 seconds or less and gai in 2 mins or less tenten realizing its suicide instead comes over to my place for casual ***
