Itachi lied to Sasuke and said he wanted his eyes so he wouldn't lose his light anymore or whatever, but I think Sasuke was an idiot to not know that was a lie immediately. He didn't even have the MS until AFTER Itachi so Itachi wouldn't have ever been able to get EMS had he actually wanted to

Well Itachi's original plan was to get Sasuke to kill Naruto and awaken the MS.

But you're right, without Sasuke having MS, it should be impossible for Itachi to get EMS from Sasuke.
