We know no one besides the Leaf higher ups and Mikoto knew about Kushina being pregnant. It's said that Mikoto and Kushina were bestfriends so, my question is. Why didn't Mikoto just take Naruto in and raise him for her best friend? I know the Higher Ups wouldn't allow it, but, they could have used Naruto sort of like a trust bond with the Uchihas.

"Hey we trust you with Minato's child so...uh...don't do anything shady....?"

"Yeah okay."

It would've shown the trust between the rest of the village and the Uchiha thus lowering hostility, in a sense.

It just pains me to remember Naruto lost his parents and grew up with parents :NO:

So, if was raised by Mikoto, how do you think it would play out? Would there still be a Coup?

Well the whole point was not to let everyone know that Naruto was Minato's son. So Mikoto along with the entire Uchiha clan would have know. Also the Uchiha clan was blamed for the attack, why would they be trusted with the jinchuriki of the Nine tails?

Probably because she too had ill feelings for Naruto and what slept inside him, plus the fact that she really would have no say in the matter--Sasuke's father would. To accept a jinchuriki knowing the beast inside him destroyed the village back then would be a matter of pure Altruism--and foolishness!
