the fight was obivously continued until Itachi one eye went blurred/white and that is when Itachi finished the loop and successfully casted Izanami. But before Izanami able to succeed, they were trapped, so without new layer of genjutsu, Itachi is pretty at his dead end already.

But this is a thread about the case when they are fighting 1v1 :lol
Many of you bring out totsuka and yata mirror when both of the fight in manga he didnt bring it out until the end. So why scare of other bring out sound genjutsu ? Kabuto could have bring out Sound Genjutsu right from the begining in 1vs1 and Itachi is pretty dead by then lol. Nothin from Itachi can defend from it.
