[Gimp] How to make gimp border?

The title kinda speaks for itself i wanna make a border on this avatar
You must be registered for see images
but i dont know how.

1. Choose the Rectangle Select Tool.

2. Highlight the area where you want the border to be.

3. Hit the "select" tab up on the top, and choose invert.

4. Right click on the avatar, and choose edit.

5. Fill it in with whatever it is you want.

6. Deselect the Rectangle Select Tool by clicking outside of the avatar.

Or Select>All, New layer, Select>Border (Do however many pixels, usually 1.), And then get your paintbrush tool and color over the area.

1. Press ctrl + A to select all.
2. Go to Edit, then click on shrink, put in your desired value.
3. Then ctrl + I to invert the selection.
4. Choose the bucket tool and fill around the edge of the picture.
