how to download gimp brushes on windows?

I have a problem downloading the brushes for gimp 2.6 i looked up how to do it on google and it said that i had to open up the pathways and save it to
C:/program files/Gimp(version)/share/gimp/(version)/brushes
and i did but it still wont
any solutions.
(and no saying to just get photoshop because i cant afford it.)

After you save the brushes in the right place open Gimp and in the brushes dialog click "Refresh Brushes"(its all the way at the bottom). Here is a picture of where the refresh brushes button is. Hope that helps.
