Genjutsu has always been stated to be a problem against speedsters.. so i doubt it's that easy.. Genjutsu requires direct eye contact long enough for opponent to build up chakra and fire it off. it can be compared to amaterasu if you ask me. Amaterasu has same requirements yet we have seen people avoid it close range... Gai moves at speeds way fast that it's very difficult to land genjutsu when you know you have to defend against his attacks too... if gai jus stands there and looks in to sharingan saying catch me in genjutsu then obviously he will fall pray to it otherwise no...
To deal with 8th gate you need rikudo chakra or special jutsu like intangibility or you can run away if possible and wait it out...
Gai isn't getting put under genjutsu if he at that stage. It's almost make the oppenent look like he/she is frozen in time the way Gai moves. It would be hard to pull off genjutsu on some1 you cant catch with your visual.
We must remember that Madara was a JJ, so it made the 8 gates look weak. (Madara didn't attact, an it didn't look like he could until Gai backed off a bit) But a genjutsu from a regular rinnegan user or sharingan user would probably lose cause of the shear force of Gai power.
IMO Gai would beat any rinne or sharingan genjutsu in 8 gates.. It's just way too powerful an that's why i think Kishi waited to use it on a JJ.
I see so what about someone like Rock Lee?
Genjutsu works by controlling chakra flow, doesn't it? Can someone even control an 8 Gates chakra flow?
