How to change a video codec

I wanna watch the anime i download on my 360 because its hooked up to a screen twice as big as my desktop monitor but i don't know how to change the codecs to ones supported by the xbox. any thoughts or ideas?

what i did is hook it up to my network and configured windows media center so the xbox 360 would play the videos i wanted about the codecs once ur 360 is hooked up to the internet and u play an .avi format video it will ask u to update so u will be able to play it ^_^

tried that and it froze my computer...windows 7 didn't appreciate that

You probably mean you want the file to be a different container, this can be done through converting. First, look up on the internet which limits there are on your XBox's media player, then convert the video file. Try Allok converter, it has a lot of options and presets for a lot of devices, including XBox 360, PSP, PS3, USB for DVD, etc.

u have to set an ip address 4 ur xbox 360
