tried that and it froze my computer...windows 7 didn't appreciate thatwhat i did is hook it up to my network and configured windows media center so the xbox 360 would play the videos i wanted about the codecs once ur 360 is hooked up to the internet and u play an .avi format video it will ask u to update so u will be able to play it ^_^

First, look up on the internet which limits there are on your XBox's media player, then convert the video file. Try Allok converter, it has a lot of options and presets for a lot of devices, including XBox 360, PSP, PS3, USB for DVD, etc.
