Well we know the uchiha an senju are direct decendants of the sage of six paths.
but it was said that the uzumaki and senju are distant relatives, so this is how they are related.
the first hokage and mito were husband an wife, so theres your answer!!!!!
mito was a member of the uzumaki clan, who gave narutos mom advice, also who was a host of the nine tails.
so thats what was ment by distant realitives, mito bein the 1st hokage wife made senju and uzumaki related.(wedlock)
Also this is just a theory, but i think that madara and hashi were always fighting because mito may have cheated on hashi with madara.
