How Strong Was Part 1 Naruto Genins?

Here's my ranking of the Genin (and Shikamaru) from Part 1.

(1) Naruto/Sasuke
(2) Naruto/Sasuke
I put these two together at the one and two spots because I think they were more or less equals. An argument can be made for either one of them being the strongest. IMO it's Naruto, but that's a very thin line between the 1 and 2 spot.
(3) Neji/Lee
The most talented of the group, rivaled only by Sasuke in talent. His skill and prodigy should speak for itself. Lee's speed and Taijutsu skill put him on Neji's level IMO.
(4) Shikamaru
This was really close for me on whether to put him above Neji, because in my mind brains is almost always greater than brawn. But, since Neji has brains as well as brawn, I have Shikamaru here. His intelligence can't be matched by the rest of the group, and that gives him an edge in most fights.
(5) Shino
One of my favorite characters, I really wish Shino had more panel time. i only put him this low because of lack of feats, but to me he seems like a more OP Shikamaru.
(6) Kiba
Another close one between Kiba and Choji. Kiba's speed and power is what puts him above Choji for me.
(7) Choji
Before part 2 (and without pills) Choji was essentially garbage. One of my least favorite characters, even without my bias against him I think most will agree he was the least talented.

All the girls can be ignored, as they were basically fodder.

So! How's the list? Fairly accurate? Any changes you would make?

I would put Hinata above Choji and note that, in pre-Shipuuden fillers, could take Shino. Jyuuken is a powerful fighting style and is often overlooked in taijutsu skills.

Lol at the comment about the girls. Your list is pretty accurate. Though I think Lee could have beaten Neji in part 1. Lee might have felt like Neji was stronger but Drunken Fist Lee and Gates Lee would overwhelm Neji IMO. The rest I agree on, good list.

The fight at the Valley of the end could have gone either way. Reach won it. Had flashbacks to the 1st World Martial Arts Tournament with that one.

Neji never fought Drunken Fist Lee or gates Lee, even Neji would struggle fighting both of these.

Part 1 hinata is definitely higher than part 1 Chouji.

So she's more or less the only chick in part 1 that was worth a damn. For me its:

1) NaruSauce (Yeah about equal)
2) Neji
3) Lee
4) Shikamaru
5) Shino
6) Kiba
7) Chouji
8) Hinata
9) Tenten
10) Sakura/Ino

It's Naruto/Gaara first.
Sasuke lost to Gaara even with CM and Chidori.
If Gaara would've went full transformation, it would've been overkill.
Only person that could tie with Pt.1 Gaara is Naruto 'cause of Gamabunta.

OFF TOPIC: BUT If we could go before Part 1, I'd say...
#1 Genin/Young Ninja is Nagato and Young Kakashi is definitely in the Top 5.
