[Discussion] How strong is none DF BB

I know we havent actually seen what he can do,this is merely a guessing thing but if you were to compare a non df blackbeard to another one piece character who would you say he is closest to? Take into account he did give Shanks that scar.Now Shanks was probably alot weaker back then and he might have used a cheap trick but still,I doubt he is one of those people that cant do anything without his DF.

He is probably a bit below WB commander level, we have nothing to base this off of besides Shanks scar and overall hype. I believe he was up to be the next promoted commander after all (before ace).

I wouldn't put him above a Vice-admiral but it's impossible to know. BB gave Shanks a scar but now we know why BB is missing his teeth

Well his strength is impressive I mean he was able to almost break Ace's neck with one hit however Teach's weakness is most likely his speed.

I'd say he's around Whitebeard commander level without DF powers.

I'd say Ace level. Perhaps slightly weaker. Remember Shanks met WB to ask him to call back Ace. No one knew what DF Thatch had except BB at that point. Shanks possibly assumed that BB would be a match for Ace (maybe even more, since he said that Ace isn't ready for BB yet) even without his DF. BB probably had haki, since he commented that Luffy's haki had gotten stronger in Impel down.

I would place him as stronger than pre ts luffy, but weaker than ts luffy.

He hasnt demonstrated anything special other than his df power really.

But i could be wrong, its just we havent seen him do much other than use his df.

I don't recall it saying BB gave shanks that scar BEFORE he had his DF. Without his DF I can't picture him being much of anything honestly. I personally feel people hype BB up way more than he deserves. Think about it besides Ace he hasn't beaten anyone significant himself. He got wiped by Magellan, he survived WB by WB dying then proceeded to shoot his corpse to make himself forget he was crying a few seconds prior. I see people being generous here and saying vice admiral. Maybe, I wouldn't be that surprised to see him at Arlong level if not just slightly below Arlong.

Shanks already had that scar when Luffy was a little boy (chapter 1)

Ace went after BB right after he killed Tatch and consumed his Devil Fruit, Ace already was like 18-20 around that time. Besides in a flashback on FI we saw BB with claws which were probably the weapons that gave shanks his scars. BB didn't have those claws in the flashback when Ace joined WB.

So that is enough prove that BB fought Shanks without a fruit.
