I guess I'll start from where Kishimoto left off in Shippuden. I would have Sakura move on from her feelings for Sasuke, as in not in love with him at all in the story, and I would push to find ways as to why Sakura would even love him when that day would come. Clearly Sasuke's character has nothing to do with romance in Shippuden, as their interactions were more hurtful to each other.

I'd just try to make it as humane as possible. As in neither of them trying to attach themselves to the other. Like in the last few chapters it returned to normal with Sakura just saying "Sasuke-kun lemme follow you on your redemption journey"

I'd have it like, "I'll be here for you when you return." I would definitely not use the forehead poke at all ... because some people don't even know the significance of what it represents for Itachi and Sasuke.

Since their positive interactions in Shippuden is extremely limited, you don't really have anything to develop. You would just have them come together without either of them being attached in the story. I would build it from that, actually.

I definitely wouldn't have my version of Sakura doting after Sasuke in the story. She would of been better off like this after the Sasori Arc where she was more or less tolerable.

EDIT; I hope my comment doesn't incite anything who ships these two though. This is my opinion after-all.
