During the extended timeframe that Sasuke was absent (sometime before Sarada's birth), Sakura should've at least attempted to move on with her life and established an intimate connection with Sasuke. If you read the Hiden Novels you'll come to find out that Sakura is highly recognized for her strength, medical ninjutsu, beauty and is hailed as being the strongest female in the village currently by a majority of the village. More than that, she has the interest of a lot of men (shinobi, villagers, her colleagues ect..) and they consistently make advancements that Sakura turns down without thinking. Ino, Tsunade & Shizune all suggested she move on..
So what I think is Sakura should've done was shook off her feelings to a degree and attempted to date or pursued one of many advances and ultimately established a healthy relationship who's the opposite of X
Some one like the Random Stone Guy..
They should've dated for a couple of months and then ended their relationship for some reason. Fast forward: A time after their breakup Sasuke returns to the village while Sakura was in the process of considering a reconciliation with ol' dude but those considerations are halted when Sasuke appears before her Somewhere in the village.
Side note: SS desveres better devolpment..
