[Discussion] How small are we?

We watched this video in my Astronomy class, I got the chills because even if I know the earth is but a small dot, in the arms of our galaxy. It's just scary- I think the universe is amazing yet scary. I wouldn't want to get stuck floating in space..

How does it make you feel?​

well, they have found around 800 planets and that's just what we're able to see.
"The Hubble Space Telescope estimated that there were 125 billion galaxies in the universe, and recently with the new camera HST has observed 3,000 billion visible galaxies." and we're just 1 galaxy in this universe! We cant even tell how big our universe is.

It just amazes me, and somehow makes me feel calm and safe.

The fact that something that huge even exists is ****ing marvelous. When comparing those stars to the size of the universe, it's even more incomprehensible and immense.

I get the same feeling when looking at the stars at night. It's so gorgeous, so far away, so enormous, it makes me feel like the problems we deal with every day that seem so substantial, perhaps aren't really that bad or important. And there's so much to discover. What exists out there that we haven't even dreamed of? The possibilities are nigh endless!

I dont really Believe this why you say? Scientist say the farthest thing is still traveling and its not even 1000 lightyears away from where we are. But yet they no its over 1billion milky waves. That dosen't make sense and is the largest known star im pretty sure its far away and if they can reach it how in the world could they measure it? by looking at it through a camra?
