This idea was a thought that hit me and I LIKE IT.
Naruto and the Shinobi Alliance manage to defeat Obito and Madara, then Sasuke arrives now aware of the 10 tails and has developed the desire of the Elder Son, Obito, and Madara, to bring peace through power (in other words he now wants to take over the world).
However the 10 tails disapears from the battle field, its revealed that it went somewhere to recover and prepare to enter its Perfect form where it will proceed to destroy the world.
Naruto and Sasuke start argueing in front of the SA and the five Kages resulting in secrets coming out (Itachi).
Ultimately they both go their seperate ways and began searching for the Ten Tails, both knowing that whoever gets to it first will decide the fate of the world.
Naruto wants to redivide the 10 tails while Sasuke wants to become its Jinchuriki and commence either the Eye of the Moon plan or some other world dominating plan.
Basically the final arc is sort of a search for the 10 tails arc.
They both eventually follow the 10 tails to the place where it was originally defeated by the Sage of 6 Paths (we learn a great deal about the Sage and the 10 tails along the way) where they both arrive at the same time and find the 10 tails dormant preparing to transform into its next form.
They get into a fight (sort of the great battle at the edge of the world kind of fight) and either after the fight or in the middle of it the 10 tails emerges in its perfect form and its very existance causes chaos all over the world (earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis).
Naruto and Sasuke come to an agreement to work together to stop it (Sasuke gets Talk no Jutsu'd or something).
They both can't even get its attention or scratch it. During the fight Naruto and Sasuke's friendship slowly returns. Eventually they descover a way to redivide it and proceed to enact the plan but during it a shot is fired at Naruto only for Sasuke to sacrifice himself to stop it (just like in the Zabuza and Haku arc we get a complete repeat of that including speech).
Naruto enacts the plan and stops the 10 tails saving the world.
Naruto returns home mourning his friend and is named Hokage, however during the ceremony Naruto starts to wonder if Sasuke is really dead.
Last slides show the rubble from the battle and Sasuke emerging still alive.
