Orochimaru used to be in the Akatsuki. Being the snake he is, he is treacherous, and above all: curious.

Orochimaru has a 5 for intellect. Do not forget that. Kukukukuku...

I think Oro kept track of every major event in the Shinobi world.

I think he already found out that Pain/Nagato wasn't the true leader, and knew about Tobi(and Madara)and even the true purpose of the Gedo Mazo(unlike the others, thinking it only as a container for Bijuu chakra).

Even Obito(still Tobi then) realizes:

And Black Zetsu(Madara's will) realizes a potential threat as well:

Further more, although Kabuto knew where Obito's hide-out was, he hasn't been to the Gedo mazo before. Here he looks amazed:

I believe Orochimaru(and so Kabuto) even knew Tobi's identity... first of all, he knew that Tobi wasn't Madara, and second of all, I think he kept an eye on the Uchiha, Obito as well. He'd probably found out right there and then, that Obito's body was missing, and so on questioned, researched, speculated, and in the end found everything out.

some time later he got to the Gedo Mazo, found Madara's corpse...

He started implanting Hashi Dna in children(all failed, except Yamato), transplanted it in Danzo, a move against the Leaf, as well as an experiment. And of course, started the possibilities for Edo Madara.

lets not forget he put the dna in himself as well...

Oro? Kabuto? As far as I know, they didn't... I think they both understood it's difficult to handle. Kabuto has Juugo's DNA, that I know.

Using the map as a guide, The Second Hokage died during The first Shinobi war which took place Right between Kumogakure and Konohagakure. Based on the of when the event happened: Couldn't have taken place in the or But it would be more applicable to say Tobirama died in the area where Orochimaru formed his "Lab-Village" Otagakure [ ] That would explain how Orochimaru got Tobirama's corpse int he first place. Another example of significance is (pertaining to the portion on Madara). This is where Obito got crushed during the . Where konohagakure were fighting against Kumogakure also fought against Kusagakure. Also the Location of Madara's Hideout; orochimaru most likely knew of the hideout's location long before kabuto being that he was conducting major experiments in that area. Its the location of the Tenchi bridge where Kabuto met pseudo Sasori and Orochimaru fought Naruto.

Thanks for the input! What I am trying to say is that Kabuto pretty much didn't do anything on his own. He was desperate after his mentor was gone, and injected the cells out of desperation. All he knows, is because of Oro's knowledge.

Ground work no, but he was well versed in orochimaru's research; especially on senju DNA as he was able to predict and identify each the zetsu spores implanted into sasuke.

hashi can sense that oro's body is made up of almost entirely all of hashi's cells
