Probably like 9 or 10. I don't remember.
In 2004 so I was about 19 or 20. I was part of the anime club in college, and DBZ had ended on Toonami. We wanted to watch something that had characters our age, a possibility of running as long as DBZ, action and humor. Naruto fit the bill perfectly. I remember being forced to be Sakura in our 'anime club line up' because all the guys said I was just like her, and being pissed about it. I didn't like the way she treated Naruto and the way she hung on Sasuke, but I eventually embraced my role.
We used to go to conventions, cosplay as our respective characters and also hang out outside the club calling each other by our 'Naruto names' only. The show/manga really was a huge deal to us; Sakura influenced me a lot from things like my hair style to my 'Will of Fire' when faced with real life problems. I would often think 'what would Sakura do in this situation' or 'how would Naruto handle this happening to him.' I honestly took Naruto's speeches to heart about friendship. bonds, promises and doing your best. It seems nerdy or weird to say it out loud but I feel this forum is a safe enough place to admit this stuff... I hope haha.
Sorry for the long post I guess I was feeling pretty nostalgic about this topic :O
