Ok as we all know Tobi is non-other than Obito and viewed the back-flash of Kakashi, Rin & Obito's life.
Here's my theory how he became villian Tobi

1. We can easily compare the story of Team Kakashi with Team Minato.
Sakura = Rin, Girl who admire handsome & intellligent boys eg: Kakashi.
Sasuke = Kakashi, the guy who always wins, is handsome & intelligent etc.
Naruto = Obito, the guy who wants to attract Rin by wining & has a burning desire and a will to be good by practicing more and more just like Naruto.
2. Obito acts like Naruto here... trying to prove he's good.
3. He's all beaten up and he tells Rin he's an Uchiha and he's going to be an Hokage one day.
4. Here he practices more and more to prove it to Rin that he's good.
5. But again he's beaten up and Kakashi wins! Rin is attracted to Kakashi and this makes Obito sad.
6. Now what made the Good Obito Bad Tobi?

Theory:
1. I don't know how Obito survived the incident but we consider that he just survived and come to conscious and now what?
2. He came to know Rin's dead and Kakashi is alive.
Rin is assumed to have died, as Kakashi has indicated that all those close to him were dead. - Wiki
3. He has a grudge against Kakashi why he let Rin die or whatever.
4. He finds the Secret Stone of Uchiha (or we consider he met Uchiha Madara at this instant.)
5. As Obito's ambition was to become a Hokage... he came to know about the plans of Elders and was forced to think why an Uchiha has never become a Hokage. Elders were always against Uchiha and so now Tobi is against them.
6. As Obito had lost everything (Rin)... He had no other ambition left and then accepted Infinite Tsukuyomi as his Ambition and he started living a life of Nobody!

I dunno why Obito turned against the Uchiha when he met Itachi...
EDIT:
Obito always had a bad side to him and Rin's death might have triggered his EVIL Tobi side.
And if name Obito = Good then Tobi is the opposite to Obito = Bad. xd
