If the language isn't relevant or common in the country you live in, then it's not going to help much. I know in America, knowing Spanish, French, and Arabic helps.

It helps alot if you want to move places for better wage or whatever...and it helps alot if you are European and you have lot of other tourist in your country.

Example Croatia where I'm from,at sea we have many German and English speaking tourist so it's an advantage for people who serves tourists to know German and English.

Europe and America is different when it comes to languages. From what I've heard there can be multiple different standard languages within one single country, you've probably experienced this. I have a friend who lives Portugal who says he can speak 5 different languages and uses up to 3 of them a day, so maybe learning a different language is important in Europe.

I remember i had this convo in rl and the northern european languages are not usually known. Also, dont they all speak english too? So idk if they are usefull, it depends on what you want to do. Japanese are the best from the languages you choose. Especially because is easy to learn by romanians, the spoken language takes few months, you read what you write and words can be easy pronounced. But the real problem is read and write - it takes many years to learn. Thats why not so many ppl can talk japanese.
Anyway you should start ^^
