I made this topic to see if I could get quality responses about how modern age may have changed you.

My response can be found in quote tags below. I've made this topic on every forum I've visited and it usually has good results and sometimes even results in people expanding their views on general as well as difficult topics/views.

When I was about 13-16 years old I was against homosexual rights. The reason being was that I was raised as a Christian and expected to live by what I learned on Sunday in church. It was simply, "the devil's lifestyle" and if you were for it you were no better than the "***s that were doomed to an eternity in hell" or so that's what my church taught.

As I grew older and started making educated decisions for myself, it was still hard to accept homosexuals as people that were "ok". I wondered why I had a problem with it, since it's not like it affected me personally or anything. Well, about the time I graduated high school I became agnostic for a ton of different reasons. The reasons mainly were because of the contradictions in my teachings of my supposed faith. I'm still agnostic, because I don't think it's possible to prove/disprove a supernatural not being one myself, but that's beside the point.

Once I entered college, I went from a high school of less than 1,000 kids to a school with over 25,000 students (about 4 times the population of my hometown). There is where I finally realized that not only was I naive for my previous beliefs, but that I could of and probably did hurt a lot of people on my way to "going to heaven" or whatever. I'm not bashing my religion or anyone else, simply stating that I changed, and I'm glad of it.

The things that specifically changed me were meeting people online who I became friends with and later realizing they were gay, contradictions in my religious teachings, and simply put "growing up maturely".

I'm now about to graduate college, and I've even had a crush on one of my roommates in college at one point of the same gender. I'm glad to say that I don't have the same beliefs I used to.

So, I don't want this topic to be religion bashing, or honk if you love gay people but more of if anyone else has experiences where modern age has changed them?

Note; This topic doesn't have to be about homosexual views/beliefs. It's about how modern age has changed you. Whether it be converting to a religion, leaving a religion, buying a computer, moving into a different culture, etc. The point is to be creative and honest and not be disrespectful toward other's replies.

Thanks for reading, and I hope people can respond maturely and reply to others with a sense of respect. :)

Is this for a project or something?
Seriously, make a worthwhile thread or go study. U_U

No need for the spam.

OT: Hmm.. I have had a similar ordeal as you. I was blinded by my religion and thought that homosexuals were bad people. Which had a negative effect on me for awhile because I couldn't deal with the fact that I was gay myself.

But as time has passed I have learned to accept my self and others regardless of there differences whether they are gay, white, Asian, Buddhist, or Christian. We're all living brings and should be treated with respect.

Edit: I didn't mean to dislike the thread! :T_T:

Now for how modern age changed me through the years:

My homosexual views/beliefs stayed the same (I won't go into it,cause i'm not the type to insult people).

Now as I was growing up,I viewed the world as a safe and friendly place, mostly due to my parents moving in to nicer areas (Military family) and shielding the reality of the world.People didn't really show their true colors to kids back then.
When I reach the age 10-11 my parents talked to me about religion and how I have the right to choose in what I believe in (in the end God). Also moved to different parts of the world and met nice people most of which I'm still friends with til this day.

Technology, was a big factor in changing me. I remember playing games on the pc or GameBoy and thought thing's couldn't get better. Then when I was 13-15 I've started going on the internet and viewing other peoples thoughts. It was interesting in which everyone in the world was connected and I've get the chance to talk to those people in other countries I haven't even been in yet.

Then that's when I started seeing people's true colors and how pathetic they can be. Nothing but hate.
Enough to make me sick and wish that I was living back in the good old days but even then it was the same I just didn't see it.
Seeing people have hate for one another and killing each other was enough to put me in a depression state.

Until I turned 17 or 18 when I wanted to make a difference in the world. To help people, and make them see that hating on each other is pointless. In the end no matter what religion people believe in and what color skin they are,we are all the same. Human.

Now, I still want to find peace in this world and help people. Becoming a cop is my dream.

Me personally? Modern age hasn't changed a thing about me. ^_^ Of course, I've always been into technology and stayed fairly up to date with the latest stuff. At the same time though, I hate smart phones, facebook and twitter. I'll never like them either, mostly because I can't do anything with them. Smart phones are like laptop computers, their just expensive paper weights. I want to be able to fix my stuff when something stops working, so that's why I have a desktop computer. I've been building computers since I was 10, and back then it was actually difficult, now it's really easy. So easy in fact that I struggled a little with some newer stuff a kinda'. So maybe that's how modern age has affected me, by making the experience of building and repairing computers easier and a lot...cooler. xd Can't wait until this 3D transistor stuff comes out, though I'm sure it will be buggy as hell at first. Go Intel! xd

Yes you don't have to accept it, but the fact that you dislike it because you think it's an abomination or anything else makes you homophobic.

I couldn't care less lol, just saying if you have a negative view/opinion on homosexuals then you're homophobic.

The definition of being homophobic is having negative views on homosexuals, that's the damn point. Do you think I give a damn about whether you like it or not? Like I said I'm just telling you the truth. You're homophobic. You clearly said yourself you don't like homosexuals because you think they're an abomination.

Btw why do you mention crying? I'm just giving you the truth because you're delusional. Also you can't "be" gay. You are either born gay or not, so therefore you can't be gay because you want sexual pleasure. Doesn't make sense.

Thread is not about homosexuality. Those who have no ability to understand the thread topic better stay away instead of spamming.
