EDIT: Radius of the earth= 6400 km approx.
So to complete one circle he needs to travel= 2 x 3.14 x 6400 km = 40192 km
If his speed is between 3000 km/s to 300000 km/s he can do it from 13.4 seconds to 0.134 second.

Gai won't make one circle in one minute.

If he goes at 1km/s (that's huge) he will make 1/1000 of the circle in one minute, 10km/s he'll make 1/100 of the earth , 100km/s he'll make 1/10 of the circle around the Earth.

For him to distord space that much , he would need to make the air move at 300 000km/s around Madara.

It was space.

The black balls/staff from the Juubi Jinchuriki's are very hard (probably like diamond), they can only break and shatter. Bending is impossible as seen several times, it always only shattered (if at all).

Yet Gai managed to bend this inflexible stuff. Air wouldn't be able to do it since air pressure is just another way to apply force onto something.

Bending space is the only way to do it.



Think about the black stuff beeing a diamond, you can't bend diamond no matter what, it only shatters if the pressure gets too high.
