How many people know the truth?

The truth that Itachi murdered his clan to prevent the impending coup-d'etat, that he was protecting the Leaf from the shadows, and that he truly loved his brother.

I'm thinking that everybody whom Naruto shared his chakra with during the War arc knows.

Kiba recognizes Naruto's flashback of when Naruto and Sasuke first confronted. Hiruzen sees his and Asuma's funeral so we can assume that the memories aren't limited to what they experienced with Naruto.

So we see Itachi walking with Nagato. That was shortly before Naruto and Killer B confronted them and began fighting. Then of course, Itachi's wise words of wisdom...

Itachi was definitely an important figure in Naruto's past. It's because of him that he truly understands what it means to become Hokage. In these recent chapters (Naruto vs Sasuke pt 2) Naruto has only been quoting and saying everything Itachi told him.

But then again, if that flashback had been revealed to Sasuke, he probably wouldn't have said this...

If he made a promise with itachi regarding Uchiha massacre or coup detat then he wouldnt let it be leaked.

Its all depends on naruto what he wants to show others.


If he made a promise with itachi regarding concealing Uchiha massacre or coup detat then he wouldnt let it be leaked.


in sasuke's fight, he intentionally showed flashbacks of itachi so that sasuke would know what his brother wants from him.


There is no way that SA would get any info regarding uchiha's massacre or coup detat plan

Naruto doesn't have memories of Itachi that pertain to the truth. He only has memories of him as an Edo, and it was proven in the manga that those weren't shown. Edo Itachi doesn't pertain to Naruto's sad past lol.

Sasuke's past wasn't shared with the Alliance at all. The people who shared their pasts somewhat willingly did so.

So, the world still hates Itachi, they don't know the truth.

The people that have known it are:
-Sasuke
-Kakashi
-Yamato
-Naruto
-Probably Taka since Sasuke would need to tell him why he changed his goals... unless they just went along with it and he didn't both to tell them.
-Orochimaru- he was there when Sasuke told the Edo Hokages about Itachi's mission
-Kabuto- he knew Itachi was not a bad guy the moment he went there to stop him and the ET
-Koharu/Homura (elders)
-Edo Hokages (deceased)
-Obito (deceased)
-Hiruzen (deceased)
-Danzo (deceased)

Out of the ones that are alive...
-Orochimaru/Kabuto aren't meddling with that, they won't tell anyone and have no reason to.
-The elders sure as hell aren't telling anyone.
-Sasuke won't tell anyone since that would ruin his glorious clan's rep. He's not telling anyone.
-Yamato/Kakashi actually don't want to tell anyone and just want to let it be. They don't think they know much about the subject anyway since Tobi was the source.
-Naruto actually wanted to tell people, but isn't going to since Itachi told him not to, since that would only make him the hero (which he doesn't care for) and ruin the Uchiha. Itachi doesn't want the Uchiha to be hated, Naruto knows this and won't tell.

Conclusion: It's already a confirmed fact that the public will never learn the truth about Itachi Uchiha.

It's better writing like this, anyway. Mainly because Itachi is the shinobi who does good deeds from the shadows and doesn't ever get recognition or seek it. If the truth is revealed, it would ruin that theme slightly.
