I don't know if the specific moments have that but.. They are often followed up by something very hopeful, and yeah.. That truly is the wonderful thing about One Piece! What I love about all these 'tearjerking' OP moments, is that most infact are not only sad but they contain a huge load of joy/hapiness and hope mixed in between which is defenitely a different kind of emotion than just a sad/depressing scene. These are so well balanced out I have many times actually had more of a smile but at the same time teary well , u know that typical op feeling ^^
One piece makes you feel so much for these characters, but also makes you laugh hysterically the next moment.
One Piece is like an insane roler coaster ride where you get to go over the entire emotional spectrum, you get to laugh, you get to cry, you get to become angry, you get to cheer for the heroes, you get to be pumped, you get to be quietly nostalgic and it just hits all the right bottoms, moving from one emotions to the next so quickly you hardly even notice.
One moment you can be sniffing the next you can be laughing so hard, and all the time there is this underlying message about living to the fullest, so even when sad things happens, there's still life to be lived and lived to its fullest.. It's.. quite amazing really.
A pretty darn amazing sentiment brought to near perfection in this manga.
As Brook cried right after we got his story of sadness, and he just yells with tears streaming down his face. "I'M SO HAPPY THAT I AM ALIVE RIGHT NOW!"
That right there.. that's the spirit of One Piece.. it's great
