Anything past Gear Fourth. Dragon Ball Z's already run this concept into the ground for pretty much every series to follow. I'm perfectly fine with Gear 2 and 3 being for minor shit, and multiple forms of Gear Four for high tier opponents and fighting. I prefer if Luffy doesn't have a Gear Fifth or never Awakens.

You could say that Dragonball Z's SSJ3 transformation is to Luffy's gear 4th transformation, as we both knew or it was slightly hinted that they would have developed another form past their first/second powerups. I feel like anything past the ssj3 transformation(which was really well done btw) really pushed it, and the same can be said for if Luffy goes past a g4. I am fine if Luffy awakens his DF, as that is natural for every DF user, but if he needs to keep unlocking new gears altogether because opponents keep getting stronger then that is just an easy way for Oda to make Luffy stronger which I'm not a fan of.

I would rather him develop more on his haki though. When Luffy faced against Cracker, he said that his armament haki was one of the strongest he has ever faced and he was using G2/G3 punches. That's not acceptable if you hope to fight against a yonko 1 on 1. If Luffy is always going to be reliant on his gears then he needs to practice more with his other gears so that they don't look so weak compared to g4, and it's starting to get really annoying how the fanbase has only hoped for Luffy to beat all his opponents by only going g4. That should say something about his powerlevel.

Luffy's power ups should be...

1- Gear 4 Speed Form
2- Awakening
3- Gear 5
4- Shanks level Haki (to fight Blackbeard)
I see shanks beating Blackbeard. Their crews kinda already sized each other up at marineford. Also think luffy won't get his haki to that level I know it leaves the whole he killed ace thing. But maybe when luffy fighting the government Blackbeard tries to take advantage again and shanks is like naw not this time

I agree with Lbreezy that Gear 5 would be pushing it, but I don't think he has anymore to go from there.

>G2- more speed base increase in blood flow
>G3-more power base bone balloon
>Giant Gear mode power/speed increase blood flow and bone balloon
>G4 more elasticity/tactile base muscle balloon

So what more can luffy do when he's covered blood, bone, and muscle with all his gears? I think next is complete control over his devil fruit which is awakening.

I believe there will be one more Gear(G5) which would look more menacing than G4.
Adding that with Awakening & Conqueror Haki will definately push Luffy to Top Tier lvl in OP.

The idea of Gear 4th has been discussed long ago probably since Luffy used G2 and G3 against Moria. It took so long that G4 came into reality. Now what is after G4? Gear 5th? Awakening? Or even is Luffy gonna call Awakening G5? Assuming Luffy managed to unlock G5, I lately started to doubt that G5 could do a thing against Yonkou.

Yeah that's cool and all but how will a power up be explained then?

Actually, I believe that Blackbeard will kill Shanks, giving Luffy more of a drive to face Blackbeard before raftel.
Unfortunately for Shanks (such a great character), I can see this outcome happening as well.. it will be a tragic day in One Piece, but epic af nonetheless.. :score: lol
