how many elements? 5-6-7-?

i believe jiraiya said that pein could use all 6 elements however 5 are only usually talked about...lightning, wind, earth, fire, water
however this is mentioned during naruto's chakra nature manipulation training...

this was in referance to naruto asking about other jutsus like shikamaru's shadow moves ... now this would indicate not 6 but 7 with dark and light... are they not classing these as other elements? if not why did they mention it in this conversation as if they might be elements.
and if not what is the final one?

any ideas (i may have missed something out even though i'm totally up to date with the story...)

I think does 2 are bloodlines... like shikamaru has dark manupulation thats a Nara clan bloodline

I dont really consider it of great importance, especially taking into account that the only example of this type of jutsu has been shown by the Naara Clan, a more minor clan to the plot of the story.

I was playing this game awhile back on PSP called Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner which is basically a wanna be pokemon but anyways they classified Thunder, Ice, and Earth as Dark Elements. And Wind, Fire, and Water as light elemnts. Dark and Light were strong against eachother (which didnt make much sense to me). But anyways maybe that info can help shine some light on how the elements are classified in Naruto

Shikamaru's jutsus are based on his shadow, so what's the light equivalent of a shadow

i think when they talk about elements i dont think they are talking about the kekkai genkais such as ice or wood as although technically they are different elements they are combos of original ones... i think jiraiya, kakashi and yamato are talking about the base elements.
