How long does it take to travel from country to country in Naruto?

Like, how long would it take to get from Konoha to Sound? It looked like Sasuke crossed the border in about a day. But on the map, it looks like Sound is about half the distance from Suna... so I really have no idea.

Has anyone worked out travel distances and total size? I assume so, but I'm not sure where to look.
