What are you talking about? Sasuke kicked Gaara's ass in the Chunin staduim then the match was interrupted and Kankuro/Temari ran away from Sasuke with Gaara who had passed out from the ass whooping he recieved.Then Sasuke chases them for like an hour ready to fight all three of them,while Gaara naps - gets his rest while Sasuke is at work - then he wakes up geos Bijuu and acts like he's Boss.Sasuke still wrecks him with Chidori but the CM gets in the way and restricts him,then Sasuke falls down not able to move,when Naruto saves him.

I don't remember Sasuke being so scarred of dying - infact Sasuke saw Gaara's Bijuu arm in the staduim and when he chased Gaara down in the Forest he said he wanted to see Gaara's true form - already knowing he was a beast.

Dat sneaky Sauce tho, I remember I always thought his first appearance was in chapter 3, until I read some trivia on Naruto wiki.

Funny you say that.I started rereading the story a few days ago.I'm currently on chapter 65 - i'll get to those chapter tomorow or the next day - but even so my memory is good enough to know that that probably never happened.

Post the pages or it's fanfiction,and besides even if Sasuke was thinking about running away it was from the Shikaku not Gaara,who's ass he already kicked and was planning to finish off.
