I found this video and it struck me. What this guy says is true in my opinion. Light could have won against Near and prove his innocence. What is your opinion?

The title is such a spoiler.
Anyway.

Light would've defeated Near, it was his subordinates that failed him, the oh-so-low expectations that he had of them were let down.
If Light had better subordinates he would've won, simple as that.
And I'm not watching that video now.

Like in the recent youtube comments said, Misa needed a name, and a Face in order to kill the target. So, no, the plan wouldn't of worked.

This. One of the main reasons that I love Death Note so much is that Light never failed. Unlike most manga, the "villain" didn't get nerfed or overlook something huge which leads to their downfall, Light literally did every single thing right, but had no knowledge that his subordinate ****ed up hard.

It's an interesting video though.

I don't know man, Near and L were always so focused on Light being Kira, I feel that he probably would think that Light was trying to throw them off. Remember when Light went under surveillance on purpose to "prove to himself he's not Kira"? Even thought the killings started again in massive amounts, L still didn't falter in his thinking.

I always wish Light would have actually got outsmarted and beat instead of his own people failing him.

It just seemed odd in a story about 1v1 battle of wits, that the main character would lose because his plan wasn't executed properly. His thinking was spot on but....execution was slightly off? It's just anticlimatic considering it wasn't Light's smarts that were bested.
