Im sure there are many who wondered this themselves and came up with many theories. Im sure you are tired of reading threads like this but f**k it. I wanna know what you think about my theories as well as hear some of yours.
1. Kakashi felt constant guilt about the death of obito. Since he saved his life kakashi felt responsible for his death. holding such guilt for years his [EDIT:] Mangekyou Sharingan awakened due to the pain of loss felt by him feeling responsible for his friends death.
This is my first theory. not much thought into this one but I do think there was another way. I believe kakashi used a seal of some sorts to awaken his Mangekyou Sharingan.
2. His sensei, minato was married to Kushina Uzumaki. The Uzumaki were know for their advanced Fuinjutsu. Minato must have learned a great deal of fuinjutsu from kushina. Minato's Reaper death seal and the seal he uses for the FTG jutsu are evidence of his deadly fuinjutsu knowledge. Kakashi was a very young and talented ninja so I dont see why minato would not teach him the ways of fuinjutsu. Kakashi also demonstrated sealing techniques when he used the evil sealing method on sasuke's curse mark. My theory is that kakashi over time practiced and perfected a fuinjutsu capable of transforming his three tomoe sharingan into the Mangekyou Sharingan. this is the only plausable theory i could come up with but id like to know what you think.
