Yeah let's be honest here. Itachi just doesn't have what it takes to best such an opponent.

He doesn't you mad? I posted a similar thread but I missed all the action as I had an exam to take. People are dumb to think itachi would win when they think obito was afraid of him. Even if itachi knew his ability obito would still be alive as tobi brushed off itachis strongest attack like it was nothing didn't even burn his clothes. Now lets start with "solo kings" artillery. Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu, basic genjutsu, susanoo, and izanami. Tsukuyomi does not work on uchiha with powerful eyes and obitos eyes rival madaras in versitality like it or not they are on the same level but in different ways. Amaterasu is countered by kamui every time it will simply slip through. Susanoo is also countered by kamui in a multitude of ways making totsuka and yata nonexistent factors considering they can't hit him and what's worse is tobi can teleport inside of the susanoo which already has feats of bypassing barriers during narutos birth. Izanami is a physical genjutsu and if itachi touched tobi once he gets one shotted. Itachis stamina is awful he would not be able to keep up with tobis chakra beast level stamina. Itachis strongest ninjutsu is fireball jutsu but that is made a mockery of by bakufu ranbu a juubi sized attack the same level as madaras. Itachis suiton would DEFINITELY not counter it as he is only an amateur suiton user with bad stamina. Taijutsu won't matter one touch and tobi wins. In the end itachi would be spending a week in kamui dying of starvation and dehydration.

Tobi was not in battle so ofcourse it caught him off guard. He did not use izanagi he used kamui to escape it by sucking it in like he did lo and paper bombs.
