How is war Fair?

People keep going on and on about how a this fight or that fight wasn't fair.

Tell me if someone is trying to kill you do you fight fair knowing you will die, or do you fight to win.

There are no rules or regulations when you are fighting for your life, all that matters is that you walk away alive.

Naruto vs Pain, Sasuke vs Danzo, both had many advantages in the fight but why is that important they were trying to kill the other guy not fight fair.

Pain was exhausted from trashing the villiage but attacking while he is weak isn't cheating its called seizing the tactical advantage. Naruto wanted him dead, I would have done the same thing, I would have waited until Pain was weak while gather information on him and then made my move.

Same with Sasuke, Tobi kept Danzo from using his full strength, thats a advantage, I would call Sasuke an idiot for not seizing the moment.

I don't get why people care so much about how battles are won, all that matters is that the other guy is dead at the end.

What do you think of my thoughts, and what is your reasoning for why its important for the fights to be fair?

I don't care about fights being fair enough. I'll debate the outcome if both characters had been in their prime or whatever but I don't get mad if an unfair fight happens in the manga.

It's simple. If you fight to defend something, and especially other weaker people then it's fair.

If you are attacking others to gain power then it's not.

If you fight for revenge then it's not fair or unfair, it's just stupid.

War isn't fair, I agree, but you picked a bad example with Pain to back your logic up. Pain wasn't weakened, he barely broke a sweat against the Leaf. It was child's play to him and he knew it. When he dropped the nuke on the leaf, he momentarily lost his ability to push object away, but he wasn't weakened. This was proven when he used Chibaku Tensei; that showed us how he looked when he was weakened. That fight wasn't fair because Pain was trying to keep Naruto alive, while Naruto was trying to kill. There were preset and strict battle conditions to play on.

Most people argue about whether a fight was fair or not due to the outcome; Naruto and Pain had a battle which Naruto win but is Naruto really stronger than Pain? How bout Danzo and Sasuke? Good thread though

Your opponents will not hold your morale code, so you should not either. If you try to fight "fair" you'd only be hurting yourself.

No, no, no, no. You misunderstand (or perhaps I misunderstand your perspective), I'm not talking about Naruto's advantages/disadvantages in that fight, cause your right. He had the upper hand and used it. But the fight wasn't fair in Pain's perspective because again, he was holding back from the beginning. Exclude Naruto's pov from this and you should be able to agree that Pain didn't have a level playing field, should he had no reason to hold back things would have been different. If someone came at you with a gun while you had nothing would you consider that a fair fight?

Death isn't fair
when your in a fight for your life your probably not thinking about how honorable or noble your being. or why on earth you care when your opponent calls you a coward. if one gets stabbed in the back, so be it. its a legitimate fighting tactic. same with making others fight for you. if your a mob boss and dont want to get your hands dirty, you have the minions do it. all the same, your the one anyone would blame for the crimes commited on your orders.
death is not considerate, or wanting to wait for you to fight fairly. it comes without warning and you cant stop it. anything goes if you want to avoid that fate badly enough.

ninjas are probably the most underhanded and sneaky assasins in real history. it only makes sense theres a few real ninjas in the manga, like mu and danzo who do exactly this sort of thing. and obtaining powers oriignally belonging to someone else, thats just good business and proves your willing to go further than others on the path to whatever it is you want. danzo wanted control over naruto. so he got sharingan and mokuton. not everyone has to be like lee and train their asses off for every scrape of strength, or be like hashirama and act chivalrous to everyone.
