How is the Anime not canon

he still approves it, and it's kishi's own team...so how can it be non-canon?

i dont think so, if he approved the anime or had HIS people doing it, then he would be credited for that in the episodes, the only place is credited is where it says "based on the manga by masashi kishimoto"

He still gets credited otherwise they won't air it. After all the title "Naruto"/story is own by Kishi and he does check it to see if it follows the manga,etc

i meant like a credit as some sort of producer. because if he went through and had to approve the anime episodes or stories, then he would be credited as like an executve producer or something too, not just a creator

If the anime was canon, Im guessing 6-Tailed Naruto & Pain really did run around the outskirts of the village throwing lasers at him.
