Yeah I guessed that you will bring up the Rasengan thing but, the Rasengan isn't based on any nature, that's why was Naruto training and developd the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken. :y

Lets say for the purpose that Kakashi, can use all the elements, even though manga wise he can't. I think its more the fact that anybody can use any element, but only the weaker forms of those elements.

I can't remember if its from the manga or not but Kakashi stated "How can he use such powerful elemental justu's without having the affinity for that elemental".....well not exactly that quote but he said something of the sort, which brought the suggestion that ninja are able to use all elementals just that their only able to use some to a certain degree and others to higher degree or an useful degree...

For example yamato can create rivers, cause cliffs to rise with water and earth affinity. He can't however create a fireball, unless he does years of training, he's probably capable of spiting like a flare or something....

But thats all speculation, or a small reasoning why Kakashi might be able to use all elements.

For another opinion I think Jiraya wasn't so surprised that Nagato can use all elements but the fact the he could use such high level justus from all elements....

But in manga terms its probably more likely that Kakashi can only use two elements, the anime is just confusing...

so look, it's true Kakashi said Kakuzu should have the innate affinity to use an elemental tech at such a high level. his confusion comes from this: most people have the affinity for one or maybe two natures, but they can still train to use a second or third nature. No one--except so6p or rinnegan user--can use all 5 elements so it was weird to have all 5 elements and that they were so strong. Jiraiya was NOT surprised that Nagato could use all 5 natures, cuz he expected that. he was only surprised that he wan't using them but was instead only using summonings.

So, people are born with one affinity, those with Kekkei Genkai are born with 2 and you can use the affinity you're born with in a very strong way. But, through training, one can develop tech's using another nature, but thsose techs are weaker, and no one can use all 5 nature techs. Kakashi is the one who said that through training some people can use several elements, but they are weaker and no one can use all 5. So yeah, Kakashi--and no one else for that matter (excluding Rinnegan users)--can use all 5 changes in nature. I hope this helps clear some things up a little

Kakashi can use:

Water (Watch fight with Zabuza)
Lightning (Raikri/Chidori)
Earth (That Wall Jutsu with the Dogs' heads)

I've never seen him use Wind, and he only used Fire in the anime.

that's just cuz he has a weak ability for water. He has strong lighting, strong earth, weak water. He could try to copy wind and fire all he wants, but he can't use them. The Sharingan cant copy elemental affinity

No it does not. It only allows you to copy up to your own elemental affinity limit.
If you only have the fire affinity, than you can only copy fire techniques.
Kakashi has lightning, earth and water, so he can copy jutsus from those 3 elements.

Yeah Kakuzu was an exception because since he took the hearts of his victims, the elements were derived from the those hearts themselves. He most likely made sure to absorb hearts of high level shinobi which could add to his arsenal, or low level ones until he found another heart but I think Kakuzu himself could only use Earth release. According to the Naruto wiki site, he never used Water release in the manga but only in the anime. Even so his Water release appeared to be a little weak, he only used it to protect himself when Shikamaru threw that kunai with the explosive tag towards him when saving Ino and Choji, at least I think that's the only time.

If anyone has ever shown to use 4 or 5 elements outside of having a sharingan (Kakashi only) or rinnegan, in most cases they were using different bodies (Fuke from the 12 guardian ninja arc - anime only) or hearts (Kakuzu), unless someone else can provide another example.

The only element Kakashi has not used is Wind, anime or manga, which most people have stated. He obvoulsy knew enough to train Naruto in though so he isn't completely oblivious to it.

Even Kakashi himself said he can only use 3 elements when he was training Naruto on how to use elemental-chakra.

Also the sharigan doesn't allow you instantly know how to use any jutsu, it allows you to instantly memorize the handsigns to preform it but the user still needs the chakra to do it.

Kakashi can't use all elements. The only elements he knows and can use are lightning, water and earth. In the anime he once used a fire jutsu, however that did not occur in the manga and thus can be ignored as that causes a direct contradiction between the manga and anime and in such a case the manga always has the benefit of the doubt simply because it's the original source.

And no he can't copy elements. He can copy jutsu's and that includes elemental ones, however the fundamental requirement for that is that he already knows the element and has an affinity for it. He has been shown copying water jutsu's, but that's because he already knew how to use the water element and because he has an affinity for it.

He has never shown using a wind jutsu and mangawise neither a fire jutsu. Based on the things he himself said in the manga (namely how it should be practically impossible to have so many chakra natures and that he was surprised Kakuzu had so many of them. If Kakashi really knew all the elements, then it means other people should be possible to have it too, so why would he be surprised then?) he doesn't know either of them and if just copying jutsu's would allow him to use them, he would have done so a long time ago, but he didn't meaning he can't copy them because he lacks the affinity for it and you can't copy affinities.

And about the Rasengan, that's normal ninjutsu, not an elemental one and both the manga and anime have elaborated extensively on the difference between the two when it concerns the Rasengan.
