[Question] How is Coby alive?

Okay, so we all know that during the Whitebeard War, Coby spoke out against the continuous killing and stood up to Akainu. Now, this visibly frustrated and infuriated Akainu, so he was gonna kill Coby till Shanks stopped him.

But what was stopping Akainu from killing Coby later, like during the timeskip? After all, as Fleet Admiral, Akainu could have executed Coby with no problem, so why didn't he?

and maybe akainu saw potential in him once coby discovered haki ON HIS OWN , a feat yet to be shown by anyone else , it may have relevance to his skill level in the use of haki

Uhm... Luffy discovered his CoC on his own as well. It was the same thing. Luffy didn't know what was happening when he used it, same for Coby as well.
