The animation quality and those reused set pieces are because there is a movie coming in December this year and thats why they have most of the good animators on that movie. Super is a Goku show but I still find it fun to watch although the treatment meted out to Vegeta doesnt sit well with me in the anime although the manga does a much better job where both Goku and Vegeta are relative equals and Goku doesnt have Kaioken Blue.
They reused this stuff even before the tourney began. Its not something new to this franchise.
I don't really mind if you like the show or not. Its fine to me I can accept it. However making it a Goku and Vegeta show is also not good since the other Z fighters looks like passengers when a big threat appears. Not to mention the lack of tension and poor writing due to Beerus and Whis always being around.
The problem with Boruto is that its drab in both the manga and anime. Naruto in the first 15 episodes was fun to watch and engrossing. This is not the case in Boruto where we have some kiddie ghost villain with no depth and infinite fillerish episodes since then. The plot is moving far too slowly and the manga's art style cant be taken seriously by anyone who reads any other manga.
I am not defending Boruto. It does not interest me one bit. I have been following Super since the Caulifa vs Goku fight. The only reason I have been following it is cause of the hype and my attachment to some Dragonball youtubers who I interact with all the time. As a Dragonball fan the quality I am seeing is very poor. I wish the series ended cause of the poor treatment its receiving. There should be no animation issues with in this 21st century. We have seen so many shows with great quality animation that are lesser than what Dragonball is, and yet this one is failing to get the basics right. We should not even be talking about this nor comparing it to Z or Gt. Heck I feel it should be owning those two shows instead of giving such a mixed feeling with in the fandom.
When you focus on newer characters after years of ignorance they start to seem to become a bore. Its like watching Super with Gohan and Goten as the mains. It just isnt as enjoyable. OTOH if its One Piece then you have several characters who have been very well developed for years on end and it would make sense to shift focus to newer charcaters. IMO both DB and Naruto focused too much on the mains to make anyone apart from them fun to watch.
I won't lie I would take Gohan being a main character over Goku and Vegeta taking the spotlight. Simply because I have realized these two characters make the show very one dimensional. We lack variety in the series due to them always being on the spotlight.
@bold: If your main issue is this than why would you wanna make this show about Naruto and Sasuke? My problem with the new gen is more different than yours. I would prefer it if we had a whole new set of characters instead of characters that are connected with the previous heros. Boruto is basically taking the elements of the old and putting them in these characters. That is why you see so many Naruto fans and Sasuke fans debating about whose child is better.
