So I never really noticed it when was catching the show in pieces as it aired on tv but since I watched it pretty much all the way through in order the past few weeks I've noticed something.

Lily is an insane, selfish, kind of horrible person. I never really picked up on it before but after watching the series she's my least favorite character.

Ending is garbage. Hate I watched the entire series just because of it.
The ending was fine, people just got way too emotional that it didn't end the way they wanted. Looking back the story was never about how he met the kids mom, the kids were right. When people expect one thing and are given another they'll get mad and most have let that cloud their judgement, HIMYM was one of the best told stories in a tv series(especially a sitcom) in a while.

I liked the ending.

I don't get why you don't like Lilly though.. sure everyone makes mistakes.. but it ain't a good reason to hate her.
That's how I viewed her originally, then seeing them all play out in order seems to drive home the crazy train for her. She steals peoples things because she doesn't like how they're behaving(That's a childish resolution and it almost resulted in an entire office losing their job if it wasn't for Ted putting an end to her insanity), she interferes in friends personal lives for her own selfish gains, I can't recall everything it was right here right now but as I was watching it, I just kept getting this feeling of "this is ridiculous why does everyone keep letting her get her way" The best thing though is they acknowledge it, the writers have Marshall mention how insane she is and that he loves it but she is insane.

Good show I can agree with the lily statement to a degree but she's also probably one of the kindest for the bunch (kind of impossible to beat marshall) and she was always the ones to help the gang with their problems, even if it was uncomfortable for them. Ending was good what did everyone want? So that's how I met your mother and we lived happily ever after? Would have been pretty lame I like that they added a little twist in there. All hail judge fudge.

It was always about how he met the kids mom and just because they had the ending pre recorded instead of making a good directory decision they kept it knowing damn well they had went to far with each of the characters to have them going back to each other in the end. All I liked about the ending was the Barney speech scene. The rest was just like tf. You cant expect people to like an ending when the plot itself was leading us to believe that the Ted was going to lead us to meeting the mother and having a satisfying ending that has the kids in it. I mean at the end of the day why even introduce the Mother b.

The plot never actually indicated that though, the title and your presumptions indicated that Ted would have a long life with his kids mother, you weren't the only one, I like most, expected the show to end with the reveal of the mom but once we got that early in Season 9 it should have been clear to people that the story he was telling the kids wasn't focusing on meeting their mom(this is something that can only really be seen in hindsight after you have all the information).

The show had shown us that Ted always gets a bad break even in love(Stella,Victoria,Robin) and your own point proves the original intent behind the story. They had that ending ready for the day the studio said this is the final season, this is a play they've been sitting on since early on. If the show had intended Ted's wife to still be alive then why was her voice or back of her head never once shown/used in the talking scenes? Clear answer in hindsight is because she wasn't there. The clues were left throughout the show but none of us could have picked them up before knowing to look for them.

I still don't understand what you're so upset about over it. We got the mother, we got closure, we heard the whole story and then some, Ted ends the series happy. In what way besides it's not what you wanted is that a bad story? And for the record your view of a "good directory decision" is going with the most linear and expected story available? Ok. You don't have to like it but disliking a well crafted and presented piece simply because you would have done it differently or wanted a different result is just goofy. That'd be like saying Romeo and Juliet was bad simply because you didn't expect Juliet to fake her death, you'd have rather seen her flat out poison herself. The work is still done well you just don't like it and there is a difference.

But dont you hate how they screwed up Barney? They have him become a nice person and he finally gives up his Charlie Sheen lifestyle so he could be with Robin and they just screw him last minute, decide to give him a child and he probably dies a single man while the rest of the group get happily ever afters.

But that is Barney's happily ever after. He got a child and he has no commitment to a spouse. It may not be everyone's ideal but it was his and he got it. He's still a nice person at the end of the series after leaving Robin. If he hadn't told those two girls to go home and make better choices I'd agree. And I know the show was mean tot end on a up-note but honestly if we analyzed everything leading up to it, chances are Robin and Ted didn't stay together anyway, Robin backed out of 2 big commitments(Ted 1st time and Barney) and Ted throughout the show always got the short end so it's unlikely it lasted for them.

Yeah..
But I guess they also understand she does it because she cares for them. Even if she does things in her crazy ways.
