What's up everyone hope you guys are having an awesome December so far :D:D:D

So the point of this thread is to ask you guys, how do you find new people to do the stuff you love to do. For example when I moved out of my hometown and went to college, I couldn't find people to skate with or play basketball or swim or play chess etc.

Soooooooo, I was just wondering to see what you guys think or if you guys have any cool ideas to get a lot of people together for idk, a dodgeball tourney or staring contests lol. Thanks for the help base!!:ice:

I have a really hard time with this. I'm almost through with one semester of college, and have made almost no new lasting connections. I only hang out with people from my home town that came to the same university. I can't figure out friend making. So awkward. It hurts.

The most I can figure is you have to find people who have shared interests, and really try to connect with them based on the interests. I have no idea how to do this though.

yeah i think what I have a problem with is finding people with my interest cuz I'm done for practically anything but their are only certain things that I can say I love to do.

Funny, I have the opposite problem...people always want to do stuff with me and I really don't want to. >.> Thankfully I've found a way to distance myself and eliminate friends; they can't be your friend if they don't know you're alive. :zonder:

There should be a gym since it's a University, go to the gym and shoot hoops. you'll inevitably run into people who wanna play. most of the time they'll be there by the time you are. Go running/joggin in the morning where other runners can see you, go to fields where football could be played cuz you'll probably find people there already playing. Go to the pool, you will meet pool people there. You gotta go where u are interestd to meet the type of people who are also intersted in the same things. Also, at many universities there are clubs: swimming clubs, cooking clubs, chess clubs, sports clubs, all kinds of things. and the more involved you are in sports, the more people will know. Hell, ALL it REALLY takes is finding ONE person who's sports oriented and he can start taking you to games and shit like that.

Woah man, I had no idea that people are having the same problem as me. Yep first semester just wrapped up for me as well... it's really hard to meet people at a university w/ 60,000 people. I totally get it. College was so overhyped in my opionion

Hahaha, I feel ya. Ohio State's (as your location suggests) kinda like the Northern parallel to UT where I go. Don't know if it was over hyped, but if you aren't almost aggressively social it can be kind of rough. I don't know if you party, but I don't, and I almost feel like it put me behind the game. That and those huge classes...can't make friends when you sit by a new person every single day.

I don't really party much either, though I wouldn't be completely averse to going to one. I'm taking more classes in my major next semester so hopefully I'll meet more people. Best of luck to you as well!

Well, when you grow up in a large family with lots of people that have friends...then act like Sasuke all the time...people tend to flock to you. They say they want to help you be more social, etc. Forget social; my brother was social and it landed him in jail on many occasions. >.>

Trade ya.
You wouldn't want to now, I don't have any friends except for some close family members, but most of them are really young so it's not like I have to hang out with them all the time. xd

I had my own appartment for about 6 months from May this year till October living in this new town. I made several friends over there but none of them really had similar hobbies.. like skateboarding, I did it solo..
But it was cool anyways, I had like 12 girls/boys at my place every week, so I wasn't completely solo ;p
