How great of a defense is chakra release without the rotation? (kaiten)

What would be the maximum extent for the defense of a Jonin Neji's Kaiten, but without the rotation? As a genin, he could only alter the path of an arrow. Against Nartuo during the Chuunin exams, he obviously stopped a punch before even rotating.

What do you think a Jonin Neji can actually stop by just shooting out chakra from his body? Is it useless without the rotation?

Hinata deflected a Juubi tail with a weak Kurama cloak which is arguably stronger than PS blade, considering Neji is a descendant of Kaguya like Uchiha and was expected to surpass the main branch he would have eventually been able to produce a similar feat without the need to possess bijuu chakra.

I think of it similar to how Tsunade and Sakura do there punches they release chakra in an instant while performing taijutsu but I imagine Neji coating himself in chakra then spinning around making his chakra spread out making his defense bigger if that makes sense lol

What he used to divert the arrow wasn't the first stage of kaiten and was only a release of wide , flail chakra , unfocused.

Against Nartuo during the Chuunin exams, he obviously stopped a punch before even rotating.

A small layer stopped Naruto's punch , a layer than can get much wider without rotation as seen after the punch and also seen here

I'd put a thick wide expulsion of chakra>>>>Gaara's Thin layer of Sand Armor so at best i see him tanking P1 Gated lee's hits while constantly expeling more and more each hit.
