How Exactly Does Rinbo Hengoku Work?

I know the basic of it, like it creates shadows that only the rinnegan can see and sage chakra can sense (That's what I know from Manga) but in the few recent episode its been getting used in a few different ways it looks like.

#1- When madara Knock all the tailed beast out - I understand this

#2-Stops Sasuke in mid-air- this is the use that I dont understand at all, and at the time when this happens a weird transparent diamond octagonal shape appears around sasuke.

Can someone please clarify this for me.

Maybe a jutsu of Deva path or maybe the Limbo just stopped him with Susano'p and that is why Sasky didn't dodge

Or of course, the limo could just be picking sasuke up and holding him off the ground. There has never been a single point where to limbos have used any technique other than punching, so I'm assuming that they have the same physical abilities as the user.

Well generally Limbo is just shadow image of user which has traits as you said.

Now, Limbo appear next to user or user can send it to the place he looks at to manifest there and from there attack.

About Sasuke, well it was either limbo grabbing him and holding in air, or it was deva path ability
