It's probably wishful thinking to imagine one report button being legitimately notifiable to the administration, so how many unique IP addresses must click the report button on a reply in order for it to be noticed? How often do members use the report button when faced with a problematic thread/reply? I've read through the FAQ explaining the many ways to report 'things', but not on the 'strength' of the button.

Well mods always take care of the reports they receive. It depends on how effective it is from it being a spam post or trolling, with trolling being more critical. It depends also because some people barely report and some people report a lot. Same thing goes for IP address I guess.

Well if people don't like what you post, like a racial or insults in general, they can report you and you can get banned

Apparently effective because we're not seeing racist threads at the moment.

IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!

Well, it's pretty effective, someone will eventually see the report, that's for sure. The less reports the more effective it is, I guess, else it might get burried under other reports and it will take time for the mods to get to it ;p
But yeah, it is effective.

Edit: Just noticed you are asking about IP addresses. One account is enough to send a report, more people reporting the same thing will just make it more probable to get noticed sooner than later, but mods will get the report even if it's only you reporting.

When a member uses the report button, the report is sent immediately and awaits checking by a staff member. So to answer your question, one unique IP address can click the report button for it to be noticed. When several different IP addresses report the same post, it becomes more noticeable, so the staff members online can notice it faster.

Does it show up as a notification up in the box there? Or is it in a panel for moderators? I've always wondered..

Guess there's only one way for you to find out.
Hint: None of the staff will tell you how.

@OP; as mentioned by Drizzy above, every report is noticed, read through and dealt with. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.
