How does Sharingan control an opponent?

What I want to ask is that,
Madara could control the movements of 9tails when he fought against Hashirama

Obito could control the movements of 9tails and make it work however Obito wanted.

Obito controlled Yagura's movements.

Itachi never controlled anyone but he at the end made Kabuto teach him how to stop Edo-Tensei.


The question is that if all of them could control a person using Sharingan after catching an opponent in it.

Why was Sasuke using Genjutsu on Danzo(to trick him into believing that one of his eye is still open) when he caught him with his eyes instead of controlling Danzo's movements and make him kill himself?

Does he not know how to control an opponent's movements?

It controls because of genjutsu, the Sharingan and Itachi is too strong.

So it only depends on how strong the user of the sharingan is? By the time Sasuke defeated Danzo, he already had EMS, which means he was way too stronger. So why he couldn't make Danzo his puppet.

It controls because of genjutsu, the Sharingan and Itachi is too strong.

Genjutsu fall under controling ones sense if you take control of one vision you can have them thinking there walking forward but really there walking backwards so what they see maybe a path leading right but there going left its pretty much that simple and the case of sasuke and itachi fall under there own personal skill im sure its not just the sharingan im sure this is the case with any genjutsu user at a high enough level Anbu Intel!!!!!

Sasuke can control people as well, though he only used it on zetsu and that kumo ninja, and he only used it for interrogation. I'm guessing it wouldn't work on someone as powerful as Danzo. Or a simple reason could be that the fight would be boring if it ended so easily.
