Indra was said to gain the Sage's doujutsu and Ashura his body/senjutsu. Both Sasuke and Naruto obtained it and Madara recognized the powers. It was a huge clue to who there were.

Obito never expressly states that they are reincarnations of anyone, just that the cycle of hate between Uchiha and Senju started with the sage's sons and that this time the cycle of hate was to be between Naruto and Sasuke.

Him not knowing that an actual reincarnation process is going on isn't surprising, especially since only the sage of the six paths as far as we know can actually see the reincarnation chakra of his sons.

Because though he has his chakra and the bijuus, Madara is not Hagoromo. He also has not seen the inner worlds of Naruto and Sasuke, knows virtually nothing about their history and nothing of the reincarnation cycle, which was not revealed on the Uchiha stone, but by Hagoromo. And Obito did not say they were reincarnations. What he stated was his subjective opinion because he knew them through observation and they compared to Hashirama and Madara's ideals, powers and personalities.

Its possible that Madara is just so arrogant he can't imagine the idea that their are others like him and Hashirama.

He has pretty much seen himself and Hashriama as the center of everything, in his mind their will never be people on his or Hashirama's level.

I think sharinganisop got it.

They know about the never ending rivalry, but not about the sons actually being reincarnated. They might just think that it's something broad that affected the whole of their clan instead of two people actually being the reincarnation.
